Wimbledon results and scores: Maria Sharapova exits

Supposed to be in the Wimbledon 2013 Finals, Maria Sharapova was denied to advance in the the Open in the second round by 131st ranke player name Michell Larcer de Brito of Portugal.

Sharapova gave up the ghost in two sets 6-3, 6-4 that shattered the desire of the world to see her back in the Wimbledon Finals. What a surprising event in which the Russian couldn't keep up with de Brito in her volleys and serves.

Filled by controversies in her attempt to face Serena William again, the Russian was not playing smart when she was broken several times. Furthermore, Sharapova missed a lot of forehand volleys that she usually makes in her career. Not a graceful exit for Sharapova as she is seeded No 3 in this competition, expecting her to have a semifinal showdown with Williams.

A shock, therefore, for the tennis fans out there who are tantalizing yet another Sharapova run. There's a similarity earlier this week with Men's Rafael Nadal when he was overwhelmed by 135th ranked player Steve Darcis. Call it stunning in a sense that two No 3 players are out of the competition as early as this. For the sake of conversation, Sharapova deserves to have yet another opportunity advance to the Finals but she failed to deliver her best tennis.

It's not about providing her best tennis but Sharapova's health was the primary reason why she couldn't play well. Few times that she slipped and being attended to for medical treatment by her trainer in Court 2.

Sharapova is not only the player to be missed in the wimbledon Open 2013. No 2 seed Victoria Azarenka cannot continue to be in the game as she withdrew because of knee injury. This development will pave the way for Williams to dominate this Women's singles because Sharapova and Azarenka are the two players who can post the threats.
